... rests the largest print I have ever ordered! I first seen this image on pinterest, and fell in love.
The original link had been lost... so I spent some time with google and was able to locate the photographer, and the original image! I was surprised to see that it actually started its life on the web as a color image. Stacy Keck took the photo at the Rocky Mountain National Park. She has a couple more stunning images in her flickr photostream! You can also see her website here. She was kind enough to let me pay her for the high-res version... which I then had printed at Staples as an engineered print. It cost me just 7.29 to get it at this 3'x4' size. I had heard the paper was a little thinner than normal, and Staples tells you that it isnt suitable for photos... and they only print BW. I was expecting it to be really thin... but it wasnt! I have also heard that the popularity of the Engineered prints (thanks to pinterest and blog love) has caused a big jump in sales on their engineered prints... which in turn has caused quite a bit of wear and tear on their machines. So, I'm not sure how much longer we will be able to purchase the large prints at this size for this great of a price.
Which makes me wonder if another printing service will offer something similar. Even if they charged a little more I still feel like it is a great value.
I would eventually like to frame the photo just like this. <--- young house love blog is one of my faves! I would also like to eventually paint a few walls gray. But for now the warm white/cream colored walls are perfectly fine, especially since the walls are SUPER high in the living room! We would also like to eventually switch out the wall sconces for something a bit more industrial.
The small bird artwork is a vintage piece I picked up at Good Will with my cousin a couple summer's ago. It is actually a tile that has been framed. The lab glass and stand, feather quil, and the hour glass came from The Courtyard Quail one of my new favorite home stores in Winthrop, WA.
I have already changed up the mantle 3 different times! Mantles have always seemed hard to decorate/style... but maybe it is just me!? :)
