Happy Tuesday! It kind of feels like Monday, though. Last Tuesday I woke up to realize my workstation (shown above) had automatically installed updates, and restarted during the night. I had been working on a new logo for my digital shop late that night... and was relieved to remember saving it before I went to bed! However, my relief didn't last super long... upon logging in, I noticed that my screen resolution was all off. The computer wasn't recognizing my monitor, or graphics card... and it all went downhill from there. By about 3:30 I couldnt even get windows to load. System restore was doing nothing for me, nor was the recovery option. I had the blue kill screen of death, and it was stuck looping.
Not a good way to start the week. Ironically I had a very important phone call with a really nice lady that morning, and accepted an amazing opportunity for VOL25. I hope to share a little more soon... but as of now, I have a strict schedule for the next couple weeks and I'm going to need to put off the re-design to my digital shop, as well as the planned release of my Framed Science posters. The lack of cooperation from my computer had me a little stressed out, but it is now in the repair shop, and I hope to hear something back from them today. I feel a little handicapped, I am currently using my laptop... and feeling very insecure doing so. About 6 months ago my laptop wouldnt boot up. One day in December I decided to try it out again, and it actually booted! I did have to completely wipe my system to do it.... so I hadn't been using it.... until my workstation decided to take a vacation. So, these last few days I have had to reinstall programs, fonts, brushes, all that fun stuff. :) Fortunately a few weeks back I took the time to back-up my artwork and a few other documents that I knew I would need.... totally saved me! So- back up your computers, guys! I'm still hopeful that my documents were not damaged, but having access to them right now has been so critical in still keeping my shop running!
Then last night, when attempting to print a receipt my little printer decided to complain because of an invisible paper jam. No amount of shaking, googling or wishing could clear that invisible jam, and it refuses to print because of it.
Sad sad day... when it rains it pours, right? It was a cheapo "disposable" printer. I think I paid 100.00 for it 3 years ago, so by today's standards it lived a long healthy duty serving life. :) It was a canon, so I went ahead and orded another 100.00 printer. I guess until it shows up, I will be printing shipping labels from my wide format printer.
The good news however, is that we have ALL the big furniture upstairs in the loft/bedroom/office. My dad asked me if it was a bedroom or an office, I told him it was like Superman, it has two identities. I'm still in the process of organization, but it has been so. nice. Jaydon thought of a way to hang/store a huge quantity of science posters, so I will be able to really have a good supply on hand. There is really only one more big element left to complete in the room, and that is the wood plank divider that will separate our headboard from my desk. :) I did stain the bedroom side of the boards though, and he finished doing all the cutting last night, so installing it shouldn't be a huge project! So nice when a plan comes together... The house is still very much jumbled up. There are a few things that need to move around and out of the girls' room. Progress is taking one baby step at a time, and I have been so grateful for my husband. I feel like we really opened up a can of worms when we started this moving journey. His back has been bothering him, so we've tried to make it a slow process, and he is always willing to help. :)
Well, I am off to get a few things accomplished!
