interior design inspiration- from ace hotels

I posted about the ace hotel sometime last year. I really admire the unique minimal industrial look of each room. There is an ace hotel in seattle and there is also one in portland. Both just a few hours from me. SO, one day I'd love to stay there for a weekend. Until then I'll admire the rooms online...

I absolutely LOVE how they used these shutter type things as walls, and also the canvas cloths. I think of the four locations they offer, palm springs has the most character. Although I'm only judging from the pictures.

to see this picture on a recent blog I started following. Can you spot the reason why? Well, I will give you a hint, its black and white, and came from my house... figured it out yet? If you spotted my silhouette print resting on the top of the shelf in the top right corner of the picture, then kudos to you! Your a total vol25 die-hard fan. :) A friend introduced me to her blog last month, and I was hooked. Jen's sense of style is amazing, and she is super inspiring. :) So imagine my surprise when I am drooling over this recent post of her craft studio, and I spot my art. Definitely a thrill. 

Jen has done exactly what I have been dreaming of doing... (hopefully in our new house) and that is working in a kids corner/crafting area in my studio for my girls. I want a little table with little chairs, a bucket full of colorful crayons, glue sticks, kid scissors, and a wall to display they're art. Right now Trinity draws and colors more then she does anything. I had to start buying her lined notebooks, because the drawing books were eating away at out budget! Does that make me an awful mother? She didnt seem to notice until a couple days ago when she asked for a blank white sheet of paper, one that didnt have lines on it. :) Maybe I should spend some time online looking for a cheap outlet for drawing paper. Preferably with the spiral binding. Otherwise I wind up with colorful pages ALL over the house. :) 

I love the soothing color pallette she chose. The pops of yellow add a cheerful feel, that makes me smile. :) ...and you all know how much I love yellow!

LOVE it, I hope these pictures inspired you as much as they did me!  Jen also tackled the kids' playroom after completing this room. She was inspired by this lady who was the creative genius behind this beautiful bed....

to make 2 pallet beds that could act as one long sofa, then push together to double as a guest bed by night. :) They ended up making they're pallets, and they turned out awesome. I'm sure we wont have a house big enough to incorporate these, but I sure do like the idea. :)

I am actually kind of surprised that I am liking this photograph as much as I do. Its not generally a style I gravitate towards... but it seems to really evoke a mood. I would hope that the shelves above our anchored into studs, because I'd hate to have that tumbling on my head in the night! :)

Hope your enjoying your saturday. If everything goes according to plan, we'll be going for a drive today in search of some old buildings. I think I know just the spot!

interior design inspiration- green and red

I love everything about this, although I am not really sure why. :) I dont play any instruments, and I think it was the green with that little pop of red that did me in. :) Very inspiring. 

I'm constantly stumbling across interior spaces that inspire me. It seems kind of odd to do write a post centered around a single picture, but I think I'll start including some random pictures at random times. :) It seems that lately my blog is lacking in the interior design category. So, hopefully I can inspire you and me at the same time.

Loving this picture. It is giving me the urge to start a new print based solely on these colors, and I think I have the perfect sketch, already finished waiting for color. Stay tuned in the next few weeks for that!

antiquing with these kids...

was suuper nice yesterday! Stephanie and I took a walk downtown, its been really nice and cool here these last few days. I seen some ornate picture frames I wanted real bad, but decided I should wait until I know where we'll be living! :) But see what I passed up? The frame seemed to be priced high at 45.00? It had awesome bowl shaped glass, but it was cracked. I dunno, is that reasonably priced? I'm NOT an experienced thrift shopper! Its the frame here on the right, and I would have spray painted it a funky color!

I love this next set of pictures, the kids were really being silly. Trin and Seth were dancing for me, and journey was giving me the meanest glare. Shes really mastered the frown face, and will do it on command. :) Usually for a few seconds, then she'll smile to let you know she was teasing... UNLESS your a stranger. Then its a genuine FROWN. In these pics I think she may have been squinting cause of the sun. :)

We had a nice quiet relaxing summer day followed by a yummy hamburger. :) Stephanie has some mad bbq grilling skills! :P Her husband is flying in tonight, and they're planning to leave saturday. We are not ready for them to go! I just might leave sticky notes all over jeff's luggage, maybe list the different properties that are for sale in prosser? ;)

Journey did pose sweetly for this picture though. Too cute. :)

There was a small one bedroom apartment above this shop available for rent. :) Of course, they'd need something a little bigger.... ;)

inspiring colors...

...of late have been green and brown without a doubt! You can see in these pictures of a painting I started awhile back (sadly it isnt any further done) that they have really influenced me.

Then I came across this picture in blogland:

....although I cant for the life of me remember where!  I have been scouting new blogs and checking advertising prices, so I have looked at my fair share over the last couple days. I checked a few that I thought might have been the source to no avail. Anyone know?

Anyhow, the colors are sooo inspiring! That pop of green with the earthy browns and crisp white is gorgeous. Don't you think so? :)

Thanks to all the comments I received, I am now designing a mini calendar. When I say mini... it definitely is. I'll be sure and share when I have it done! Also: so glad to hear that the mini notepads are getting used! :)
