Hello everyone! This is probably going to be one of the longest posts I have written in like the entire lifespan of my little blog. I have two big things to cover... first and foremost is the release of this new set of overlays...
followed by a BUNCH of amazing examples... inspiration overload... and the second is going to be this:
yep, that is right the HUGEST overlay giveaway I have done to date. I'll cover that after I get to these amazing examples.
A little history behind this new set of overlays:
I owe a big Thank You to Amber Fischer. She was the idea behind the School Daze set. She originally contacted me for advice. She had been asked to photograph school portraits with her own twist and style for a homeschooling co-op... and was wondering if I had a set of overlays that I would recommend for such a situation. :) Turns out that after talking with her, I was completely inspired to create a set for seniors/school portraits/back to school sessions. I tried to keep them gender neutral, and also tried to represent all ages...
I had absolutely no senior photos to use of my own work... and since I was really itchin to try these out on some awesome photos I turned to my local photog buddy Kelli. She had some AMAZING pictures in her flickr teens/seniors sets. She had already given me permission to "play" around with any of her photos... So I was totally like a kid in a candy store. Before I knew it I had added the shapes to over 10 photographs! :) I should note too... that all the gorgeous editing on these pictures was done by Kelli. I only added the shapes... in most cases I changed the blending mode to "overlay" and played around with the transparency, brightness and contrast. Suuuper simple.
The above is one of my favorite photographs. The girl in the picture is her daughter. She could be a model.... :) This particular photo would have worked with ALL 9 of the overlays, but I narrowed it down to the paper airplanes, and the (seen later) clouds.
I am soooo excited that I could play with these. When I sent this set to Jodie to test, she reported back and was suuper excited, said that they were really easy to work into photographs, and she could play for hours and hours... I completely understood what she meant after playing with them myself... super addicting.
Speaking of Jodie from Fresh Art Photography here are some of the photographs she sent me. I thought she did a great job!
The next batch of photographs are from Amber Fischer.
So, I hope a few of those inspired you! :) Now onto the second part of this post... the giveaway!
As I mentioned earlier this giveaway is all about trying to spread the word, and gaining exposure for these overlays... Are there any other questions I should add in? Thank you Thank you so much for helping me spread the word! I just booked an ad spot with prop insanity and I am on Tara Whitney's waiting list. If you have suggestions for any other blogs/websites I should consider advertising I would love to hear them! I imagine they're readers would need to be primarily photographer's.
